3.11 Creative Surge: Artists and NFTs
Creative people are outliers and innovators. Artists are often early adopters of technology and they will make GenAI a core component of their process or ability to express themselves.
Art, Music, and Poetry will be composed using AI models and may or may not be converted to NFTs. Artists will have to expose their artwork to the world in either case.
Human ID can be used to build provenance into art and NFTs (note: currently NFTs do not have any legal identity tied to them).
It will enable marketplaces to follow regulations that have clearly demanded that AI-generated content be labeled or watermarked.
Also, to be noted that content where human provenance is not attached can be viewed as purely AI-generated by default through logic of exclusion as it is likely that in the near future, the quantity of purely AI-generated content is going to be orders of magnitude larger than human-generated content.
Our infra layer can also support use cases where companies who want to train or finetune their models on a particular style of artwork without getting embroiled in copyright infringement lawsuits and want to fairly compensate artists.
Benefits of AI Integration in the Creative Process:
Augmented Creativity: AI can serve as a powerful tool for artists, offering new perspectives, techniques, and inspirations. By generating ideas, variations, or even entire pieces, AI can augment human creativity, leading to innovative and groundbreaking works.
Enhanced Efficiency: AI can streamline the creative process by automating repetitive tasks such as image editing, sound mixing, or video editing. This allows artists to focus on higher-level creative concepts and execution.
Expanded Reach: AI-powered tools can help artists analyze audience preferences and tailor their work accordingly, increasing visibility and engagement. Additionally, AI can facilitate the creation of multiple versions of an artwork, expanding its reach across different platforms and audiences.
New Artistic Forms: The integration of AI opens up possibilities for entirely new art forms and mediums. AI-generated music, visual art, and even literature can push the boundaries of artistic expression.
Democratization of Art: AI can lower the barriers to entry for aspiring artists, providing tools and resources that were previously inaccessible. This democratization can lead to a more diverse and inclusive art world.
Impacts of AI on the Art World:
Economic Transformation: The integration of AI into the art world can disrupt traditional business models. New markets for AI-generated art, digital collectibles, and AI-powered art services may emerge, leading to economic growth and job creation.
Ethical Challenges: The use of AI in art raises complex ethical questions about ownership, copyright, and authenticity. Issues such as AI-generated deepfakes and potential job displacement also need to be addressed.
Redefinition of Creativity: AI challenges traditional notions of authorship and originality. The collaboration between humans and AI blurs the lines between creator and tool, necessitating a re-evaluation of what constitutes art.
Societal Impact: AI-generated art can influence cultural trends, aesthetics, and the way society perceives creativity. It may also impact art education and training as new skills and competencies are required.
